Deep Currents

Payette Lake's headwaters originate in the Sawtooth and Salmon River Mountains at elevations over 10,000 feet. Drainage in the watershed flows primarily to the Payette River, and later into an agricultural valley of the Snake River near the city of Payette at 2,125 feet. Payette Lake itself sits around an elevation of 5,000 feet, and its depths reach almost 400 feet at the deepest. These depths provide ample space for Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee Salmon, Tiger Muskie, Sturgeon, as well as a rumored monster by the name of Sharlie. We're more inclined to think its just a large sturgeon, but who knows what you can pull up from the depths.
