The Salmon River at Riggins, Idaho is only 1600’ above sea level. However, within 10 air miles, stands a 9600’ mountain range named the Seven Devils that separates it from Hells Canyon and the Snake River which is even lower in elevation. This unique topography creates steep canyons and majestic peaks that results in ideal whitewater river conditions. Granitic and metamorphic geology results in an extremely diversified and beautiful canyon setting that results in clean and enormous white sand beaches and canyon walls. 50 miles upstream from Riggins stands the Frank Church Wilderness Area, the largest wilderness area in the Continental United States, that dispenses our crystal clear and clean waters and white sand for our beaches. |
